Stanley Cohen House

Stanley Cohen House runs along the Golden Lane frontage of the estate and joins Basterfield House and Bayer House.  Although it has the same structure of brick cross-walls dividing the flats, it has a different appearance from the other blocks because the walls are concrete and painted black, while the woodwork is painted white.

There are ground floor flats.  These do not extend as far into Golden Lane as the flats above, because there is a colonnade at ground floor level supported by columns.  This is one of the architectural features of the estate, repeated in Crescent House on the other side of the estate.

For the most part,  there are only windows facing out onto Golden Lane, but the central flats have a small balcony.  At third floor level, the flats are set slightly back from the frontage behind a waist height screen, so that the flats are entered along the external corridor running along the front.  At the other side, looking into the estate, the flats also have balconies.

One of the main entrances into the estate is from Golden Lane, running under Stanley Cohen House, and opening into a paved area with the back of Bayer House on the left and the gardens of Bowater House on the right.  There is a final entrance under Stanley Cohen House off Golden Lane, but it is only a balcony looking out over the Basterfield House gardens.
